First, a few highlights to catch you up:
- We now have 36 students in our sponsorship program. These rural kids are not only getting a high school education, but they are having the opportunity to learn more about Jesus Christ and His desire for a relationship with them.
- Our Teacher Training Conference last year was a huge success. Not only were teaching strategies shared with local Belizean teachers, but they were encouraged and a fun time was had by both the Belizean teachers and the US educators who came down as trainers. We are in the midst of planning the 2009 conference and it looks like it will triple in size!
- Our third Teacher Volunteer is currently wokring side-by-side with a Belizean teacher in Armenia Village - being an encouragement, sharing ideas, and helping out.
Mark and Adie had the pleasure of taking 15 of our sponsored kids to YC Belize (a Christian Youth Conference) in mid-February. It was awesome! Great teaching from Roosevelt Hunter, fantastic worship, and a fun slumber party at our house! :-)
We have been in California for the last month or so and we are now preparing to return to Belize for several months. We'll be adding more students to our sponsorship program pushing us close to 50 students for the next school year. Praise God!
